Museums, public gardens, zoos, aquaria, science centers and nature institutions have a critical role to play in the climate conversation. This fall, the Toolkit will present our annual in-person symposium to catalyze collaboration, peer learning, mentorship, and implementation of climate solutions — this time in the beautiful 2,700-acre living laboratory of Duke Farms, a Center of the Doris Duke Foundation.

The 2026 Climate Toolkit Symposium will feature plenary presentations and panels on ecological restoration and land use, institutional decarbonization, மற்றும் community engagement, with breakouts to focus in on additional climate action goals and initiatives. Tours of the Duke Farms campus and its sustainable features will also be presented.

Full Symposium Agenda

We are incredibly excited to announce that Elizabeth Bagley, Ph.D., Managing Director at Project Drawdown, will be our keynote speaker for the 2026 Climate Toolkit Symposium. Elizabeth will set the Symposium in motion on Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, with a keynote address that touches on climate solutions, creating the right conditions for cultural change, and visualizing the future we want to see. Elizabeth will also be available for “Project Drawdown Office Hours” to engage institutions and offer guidance on climate action and implementation.

Elizabeth is an interdisciplinary environmental scientist and learning scientist with experience spanning academia, business, and the nonprofit sector. As managing director, Elizabeth guides Project Drawdown’s overall strategy and keeps programs and operations functioning smoothly across the organization. Before joining Project Drawdown, she led higher education-focused climate workforce development at SEI, directed sustainability efforts at the California Academy of Sciences, and designed the science content for video games at LeapFrog.
