Highstead

Highstead is a regional conservation and ecological research organization in southwestern CT. We have initiated a reforestation stewardship and monitoring project (spring 2025) in a 2-acre meadow on site and have generated interest in the study and approach with at least two partners in the region (eastern New York).

Additionally, we have conducted research on the climate mitigation capacity of Northeastern and western forests relative to their management and protection history.

Our building’s heating and cooling is run by geothermal energy, and we compost our food waste. We have also had staff discussions and developed a proposal for green office strategies.
