I takt med att v\u00e5ra st\u00e4der och f\u00f6rortsomr\u00e5den utvecklas och v\u00e4xer m\u00e5ste vi skydda och \u00f6ka antalet tr\u00e4d d\u00e4r m\u00e4nniskor bor och arbetar. Jessica, tillsammans med sin kollega Dr. Nicole Cavender, skrev en <a href=\"https:\/\/nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1002\/ppp3.39\">vetenskaplig artikel<\/a> om f\u00f6rdelarna med tr\u00e4d f\u00f6r samh\u00e4llen och st\u00e4der.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-are-some-of-the-benefits-of-planting-trees-within-cities\"><strong>Vilka \u00e4r n\u00e5gra av f\u00f6rdelarna med att plantera tr\u00e4d i st\u00e4der?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Att plantera tr\u00e4d kan ge fantastiska f\u00f6rdelar f\u00f6r ekosystemet, bland annat genom att minska dagvattenavrinningen, s\u00e4nka temperaturen i st\u00e4derna genom skugga och evapotranspiration, lagra och binda kol samt f\u00e5nga upp luftf\u00f6roreningar genom gasutbyte. Studier har visat att tr\u00e4dplantering i st\u00e4der inte bara har milj\u00f6effekter utan \u00e4ven gynnar m\u00e4nniskors h\u00e4lsa; tr\u00e4d f\u00f6rknippas med att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra symtomen hos barn som har ADD och ADHD, avl\u00e4gsna luftf\u00f6roreningar som i sin tur minskar f\u00f6rekomsten av glaukom, d\u00f6dsfall och hj\u00e4rtproblem, och till och med \u00f6ka barnens prestationer i skolorna. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morton Arboretum \u00e4r samvetsgranna n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller att plantera <strong>r\u00e4tt tr\u00e4d<\/strong> i <strong>r\u00e4tt plats<\/strong> och ge den en <strong>r\u00e4tt v\u00e5rd<\/strong> efter\u00e5t. De f\u00f6rsta tre \u00e5ren efter att ett tr\u00e4d har planterats \u00e4r de viktigaste n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller vattning, kompostering och annat underh\u00e5ll. St\u00e4der och f\u00f6rortsomr\u00e5den kan skapa unika milj\u00f6utmaningar som skiljer sig fr\u00e5n en mer naturlig milj\u00f6. Dessa faktorer inkluderar att f\u00e5 f\u00f6r mycket eller f\u00f6r lite vatten p\u00e5 grund av ogenomtr\u00e4ngliga ytor, f\u00f6roreningar, kompakta jordar och begr\u00e4nsade jordar. Den tuffa fysiska milj\u00f6n i st\u00e4der och f\u00f6rorter, i kombination med ofta minimalt st\u00f6d f\u00f6r tr\u00e4dv\u00e5rd och underh\u00e5ll, kan leda till att tr\u00e4d har en mycket kortare livsl\u00e4ngd \u00e4n vilda motsvarigheter. Detta \u00e4r tydligt eftersom halveringstiden f\u00f6r ett gatutr\u00e4d i innerstaden \u00e4r 10 till 15 \u00e5r, vilket \u00e4r en stor skillnad j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med den potentiella livsl\u00e4ngden f\u00f6r ett genomsnittligt tr\u00e4d p\u00e5 decennier eller \u00e5rhundraden. Om ett planterat tr\u00e4d inte tas om hand p\u00e5 r\u00e4tt s\u00e4tt och d\u00f6r medan det \u00e4r litet kan det faktiskt vara en kolk\u00e4lla snarare \u00e4n en kols\u00e4nka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"do-you-have-any-recommendations-for-organizations-who-want-to-plant-trees-for-carbon-sequestration-and-storage-but-do-not-have-a-lot-of-acreage-do-you-have-a-list-of-reforestation-projects-that-organizations-can-support-instead-of-planting-and-supporting-trees\"><strong>Har du n\u00e5gra rekommendationer f\u00f6r organisationer som vill plantera tr\u00e4d f\u00f6r att binda och lagra koldioxid men som inte har s\u00e5 mycket mark?  Har du en lista \u00f6ver \u00e5terbeskogningsprojekt som organisationer kan st\u00f6dja ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r att plantera och st\u00f6dja tr\u00e4d?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Det \u00e4r inte alla platser som \u00e4r l\u00e4mpliga f\u00f6r ett stort, massivt tr\u00e4d. Det \u00e4r viktigt att f\u00f6rst\u00e5 platsens f\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningar och t\u00e4nka p\u00e5 framtida tillv\u00e4xt. Det kan till exempel vara skadligt att plantera en stor ek under kraftledningar eller n\u00e4ra andra hinder. Morton Arboretum skapade den <a href=\"https:\/\/mortonarb.org\/app\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Northern_Illinois_Tree_Species_List.pdf\"><strong>Norra Illinois tr\u00e4dv\u00e4ljare<\/strong><\/a> f\u00f6r att hj\u00e4lpa till att v\u00e4lja tr\u00e4d baserat p\u00e5 platsens egenskaper som utrymme, vatten och v\u00e4xtf\u00f6rm\u00e5ga. V\u00e4ljaren tillhandah\u00e5ller ocks\u00e5 inhemska tr\u00e4d och sorter som ett s\u00e4tt att st\u00f6dja m\u00e5ngfalden av tr\u00e4d. Ett h\u00e4lsosamt tr\u00e4dbest\u00e5nd i st\u00e4der och f\u00f6rorter \u00e4r ett tr\u00e4dbest\u00e5nd med stor m\u00e5ngfald i st\u00e4der och f\u00f6rorter. Om en organisation vill plantera tr\u00e4d och inte har s\u00e5 mycket mark rekommenderar vi att man kontaktar en <strong>lokal<\/strong> <strong>botanisk tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rd, arboreta, initiativ eller lokalt parkdistrikt<\/strong>. F\u00f6r att st\u00f6dja plantering och skydd av tr\u00e4d i Chicago-regionen grundade Morton Arboretum och arbetar med Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI), som \u00e4r en koalition av mer \u00e4n 200 organisationer som arbetar mot en gemensam vision om Chicago som den gr\u00f6naste, mest livskraftiga och mest motst\u00e5ndskraftiga regionen i Nordamerika. CRTI-teamet bygger aktivt relationer med samh\u00e4llen i hela Chicago, utbildar m\u00e4nniskor om vikten av tr\u00e4d, st\u00f6der tr\u00e4dm\u00e5ngfald och avl\u00e4gsnande av invasiva arter samt utbildar m\u00e4nniskor i hur man tar hand om tr\u00e4d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om du best\u00e4mmer dig f\u00f6r att plantera tr\u00e4d kan du hitta bra resurser och partnerorganisationer via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arbnet.org\/\"><strong>ArbNet<\/strong><\/a>ArbNet \u00e4r ett globalt n\u00e4tverk f\u00f6r arboretum, och det inneh\u00e5ller ett ackrediteringsprogram f\u00f6r arboretum p\u00e5 fyra niv\u00e5er som erk\u00e4nner branschstandarder, sammanf\u00f6r arboretum och delar resurser och b\u00e4sta praxis. Det \u00e4r det enda ackrediteringsprogrammet f\u00f6r tr\u00e4dfokuserade tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rdar i v\u00e4rlden. Programmet startade f\u00f6r 10 \u00e5r sedan och anv\u00e4nds av hundratals kommuner, \u00e4ldreboenden, universitet, kyrkog\u00e5rdar, botaniska tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rdar, parker, resorts och f\u00f6retagscampus som har blivit ackrediterade. ArbNet har ackrediterat \u00f6ver 470 arboreta i 35 olika l\u00e4nder.
