Gruppen, som bestod av tv\u00e5 ungdomsledare och 18 ungdomsr\u00e5dgivare, utvecklade och genomf\u00f6rde milj\u00f6relaterade projekt, byggde upp ledarskaps- och projektplaneringsf\u00e4rdigheter, l\u00e4rde sig om milj\u00f6- och klimatr\u00e4ttvisa och f\u00f6rdjupade sig i sina favoritmilj\u00f6\u00e4mnen under programmets g\u00e5ng. Nedan ber\u00e4ttar varje grupp om drivkraften bakom sitt projekt och det material som de tog fram f\u00f6r att utbilda och inspirera sina studiekamrater och samh\u00e4llet i Pittsburgh-omr\u00e5det.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En viktig resurs som ledarna anv\u00e4nde sig av var Wild Centers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildcenter.org\/our-work\/youth-climate-program\/youth-climate-summit-toolkit\/access-the-climate-action-plan-facilitator-guide\/?1659454393\">Guide f\u00f6r facilitering av workshop f\u00f6r att skapa din klimat\u00e5tg\u00e4rdsplan (CAP)<\/a>. Som grupp arbetade de f\u00f6r att skapa en omfattande l\u00e4roplan som p\u00e5 ett adekvat s\u00e4tt skulle ta itu med bristerna i klimatutbildningen och som skulle kunna undervisas i skolor oavsett ekonomisk status. I korthet best\u00e5r projektet av tre lektionsplaner: luftf\u00f6roreningar, vattenf\u00f6roreningar och plastf\u00f6roreningar. Varje plan inneh\u00e5ller en pedagogisk lektion och en interaktiv aktivitet f\u00f6r att engagera och betona de centrala id\u00e9erna i lektionsplanen f\u00f6r dessa elever. Orsakerna till luftf\u00f6roreningar introduceras tillsammans med en grundl\u00e4ggande f\u00f6rklaring av hur f\u00f6rbr\u00e4nning av kol leder till f\u00f6roreningar i luften. Med denna information som grund deltar eleverna i en aktivitet d\u00e4r de ska identifiera luftf\u00f6roreningar utifr\u00e5n ett urval bilder (t.ex. skogsbrand, cykel, bil, solpaneler, v\u00e4derkvarnar, lava). Lektionsplanen avslutas med fr\u00e5gor om vad som kan g\u00f6ras f\u00f6r att ta itu med luftf\u00f6roreningar p\u00e5 b\u00e5de samh\u00e4llelig och individuell niv\u00e5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den <strong>Vattenf\u00f6roreningar - lektionsplan<\/strong> b\u00f6rjar med att be eleverna svara p\u00e5 n\u00e5gra triviafr\u00e5gor om Pittsburghs tre floder och varf\u00f6r f\u00f6roreningar kan vara ett problem i dessa vattendrag. D\u00e4refter st\u00e4lls fr\u00e5gor som \"Vad \u00e4r f\u00f6rorening?\", \"Vad \u00e4r vattenf\u00f6rorening?\" och \"Vad kan f\u00f6rorena v\u00e5ra floder?\" f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 eleverna att t\u00e4nka p\u00e5 dessa fr\u00e5gor. N\u00e4r eleverna har delat med sig av sina perspektiv kan kommitt\u00e9medlemmarna bygga vidare p\u00e5 elevernas svar f\u00f6r att inf\u00f6ra en samarbetsinriktad undervisningsstil. I likhet med lektionsplanen f\u00f6r luftf\u00f6roreningar ombeds eleverna att identifiera vattenf\u00f6roreningar utifr\u00e5n olika bilder. Slutligen visas ett diagram \u00f6ver ett typiskt kombinerat avloppssystem (CSS) i Pittsburgh f\u00f6r att ytterligare beskriva hur vattenf\u00f6roreningar kan ha en negativ inverkan p\u00e5 Pittsburghs samh\u00e4llen. Lektionsplanen avslutas med att eleverna bygger egna vattenfilter med hj\u00e4lp av vattenflaskor av plast och identifierar l\u00f6sningar f\u00f6r att begr\u00e4nsa vattenf\u00f6roreningar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den <strong>Lektionsplan f\u00f6r plastf\u00f6roreningar<\/strong> inleds med att introducera en aktivitet som liknar det popul\u00e4ra spelet \"Among Us\" f\u00f6r att engagera barn i \u00e5ldern 9-12 \u00e5r. M\u00e5let med spelet \u00e4r att identifiera vem som f\u00f6rorenar ett hypotetiskt samh\u00e4lle. D\u00e4refter introduceras hur plastf\u00f6roreningar \u00e4r utbredda i m\u00e4nniskors vardag. D\u00e4refter f\u00f6rklarar gruppmedlemmarna plastindustrins produktion och historia i lokala PA-samh\u00e4llen. Fr\u00e5gan om milj\u00f6r\u00e4ttvisa diskuteras f\u00f6r att beskriva hur plastf\u00f6roreningar har en oproportionerlig inverkan p\u00e5 fattiga minoritetssamh\u00e4llen. Gruppen f\u00f6rklarade inte bara vad upcycling \u00e4r utan tog ocks\u00e5 upp olika former av upcycling med hj\u00e4lp av virk- och s\u00f6mnadstekniker, denimmaterial, sk\u00e4rverktyg, sprayf\u00e4rg och slipsar. Presentationen inneh\u00f6ll l\u00e4nkar till second hand-butiker och lokala platser d\u00e4r man kan f\u00e5 tillg\u00e5ng till symaskiner och syverkst\u00e4der. Presentationen avslutades med att ber\u00f6ra id\u00e9n om att bli mer medvetna shoppare genom utbildning, egenmakt och deltagande i h\u00e5llbara modevisningar! Det fanns totalt 20 plagg, tillverkade av allt fr\u00e5n \u00e5teranv\u00e4nda gamla kl\u00e4der och upcyclade gardiner till ovanliga material som burkar, plastp\u00e5sar och tidningspapper. Designerna kunde t\u00e4vla om priser i kategorierna Most Creative, Most Fashionable och Most Unique. Domarna som uts\u00e5g vinnarna var representanter fr\u00e5n lokala f\u00f6retag inom h\u00e5llbart mode, bland annat Parttime Poodle, Zach Merrill Prints och Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse. Domarna hade ocks\u00e5 m\u00f6jlighet att s\u00e4lja sina egna f\u00f6rem\u00e5l under visningen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ungdomsledd uppmaning till handling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Varje grupp arbetade flitigt med sina projekt och presenterade dem p\u00e5 YCAC Showcase den 31 maj. Phipps hoppas att Youth Climate Advisory Committee kan vara ett exempel p\u00e5 vad som kan g\u00f6ras p\u00e5 din institution n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller ungas inflytande \u00f6ver klimatet.
