Gruppen, som bestod av tv\u00e5 ungdomsledare och 18 ungdomsr\u00e5dgivare, utvecklade och genomf\u00f6rde milj\u00f6relaterade projekt, byggde upp ledarskaps- och projektplaneringsf\u00e4rdigheter, l\u00e4rde sig om milj\u00f6- och klimatr\u00e4ttvisa och f\u00f6rdjupade sig i sina favoritmilj\u00f6\u00e4mnen under programmets g\u00e5ng. Det \u00e4r mycket l\u00e4tt att ge efter f\u00f6r en k\u00e4nsla av nederlag n\u00e4r man letar efter l\u00f6sningar p\u00e5 det st\u00e4ndigt annalkande, redan skadliga och alltomfattande hot som klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna utg\u00f6r. Ett av de mest kraftfulla verktyg vi har mot detta fenomen \u00e4r kollektiva \u00e5tg\u00e4rder. Att ha ett n\u00e4tverk eller en grupp av m\u00e4nniskor som \u00e4r oroade \u00f6ver klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna g\u00f6r klimataktivismen till en mycket mer l\u00e4ttillg\u00e4nglig uppgift. Grupper som f\u00f6r samman klimataktivister f\u00f6r att l\u00e4ra av varandra, l\u00e5ter olika grupper inom milj\u00f6r\u00f6relsen m\u00f6tas och underl\u00e4ttar en k\u00e4nsla av kollektiv styrka och gemenskap. Phipps r\u00e5dgivande ungdomskommitt\u00e9 f\u00f6r klimatfr\u00e5gor tj\u00e4nar detta syfte genom att sammanf\u00f6ra elever fr\u00e5n olika \u00e5rskurser, stadsdelar och skolor. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt kan varje medlem ut\u00f6ka sitt n\u00e4tverk f\u00f6r framtida satsningar, sin kunskap om milj\u00f6fr\u00e5gor och sin vision om hur intersektionella och effektiva l\u00f6sningar p\u00e5 klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna ser ut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inr\u00e4ttande av kommitt\u00e9n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens skapade sin Youth Climate Advisory Committee (YCAC) som best\u00e5r av 20 innovat\u00f6rer fr\u00e5n gymnasie- och h\u00f6gskolestudenter med tre gemensamma m\u00e5l: att <strong>utbilda <\/strong>sig sj\u00e4lva och andra, <strong>st\u00f6dja sina samh\u00e4llen<\/strong> genom klimatrelaterade initiativ, och <strong>fr\u00e4mja klimataktivism<\/strong> med fokus p\u00e5 milj\u00f6r\u00e4ttvisa. Genom att skapa ett utrymme f\u00f6r att diskutera klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar och anv\u00e4nda de resurser som Phipps beviljat dem kunde kommitt\u00e9medlemmarna g\u00f6ra sina r\u00f6ster h\u00f6rda i samh\u00e4llet och aktivt arbeta f\u00f6r att uppn\u00e5 dessa m\u00e5l i form av projekt som omfattade hela samh\u00e4llet. Sommaren 2021 utlystes ett \u00f6ppet samtal till offentliga och lokala utbildare f\u00f6r att hitta intresserade studenter som ville g\u00e5 med i YCAC som kommitt\u00e9medlemmar. Kommitt\u00e9ledarna utvecklade m\u00f6ten med hj\u00e4lp av aktiviteter som gjorde det m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6r medlemmarna att arbeta tillsammans och anv\u00e4nda kritiskt t\u00e4nkande f\u00f6r att bygga starka relationer i hela kommitt\u00e9n. Genom att till\u00e5ta olika former av deltagande, fr\u00e5n sm\u00e5gruppsdiskussioner, kommitt\u00e9diskussioner till onlineforum, diversifierades formen f\u00f6r kommitt\u00e9ns input s\u00e5 att alla medlemmar kunde dela med sig av sina id\u00e9er och bidra till gruppen. Genom detta samarbete fick medlemmarna sj\u00e4lvst\u00e4ndighet n\u00e4r det g\u00e4llde kommitt\u00e9ns inriktning. A <a href=\"https:\/\/climatetoolkit.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Charter-Document-for-Youth-Climate-Advisory-Committee-1.pdf\"><strong>levande dokument<\/strong><\/a> utvecklades f\u00f6r att \u00e5terspegla kommitt\u00e9ns v\u00e4rderingar och uppdrag och fr\u00e4mja en k\u00e4nsla av samh\u00e4llsengagemang; alla kommitt\u00e9medlemmar var delaktiga i utvecklingen av v\u00e5ra ideal. Gruppen var ocks\u00e5 med och tog fram <strong>utskottets principer<\/strong> med medlemmar, vilket inkluderade <strong>inte anv\u00e4nda telefoner<\/strong>, som \u00e4r en <strong>aktiv lyssnare<\/strong>, och <strong>vara \u00f6ppna f\u00f6r att l\u00e4ra av varandra<\/strong>. Alla dessa metoder f\u00f6rdjupade medlemmarnas engagemang i kommitt\u00e9ns inriktning och skapade en st\u00f6rre k\u00e4nsla av personligt engagemang och ansvarstagande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">M\u00f6tesaktiviteter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I b\u00f6rjan av YCAC l\u00e5g fokus p\u00e5 att \u00f6ka gruppens kunskap om milj\u00f6r\u00e4ttvisa, vilket blev en viktig del i skapandet av projekt under de kommande m\u00e5naderna. Gruppens inledande utbildningsaspekt gjorde det m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6r medlemmarna att l\u00e4ra av varandra, knyta kontakter som j\u00e4mlikar och f\u00f6rbereda sig f\u00f6r att ta itu med klimatfr\u00e5gor med integritet och intersektionalitet. Ledarna f\u00f6rs\u00f6kte f\u00f6ra in utbildning i m\u00f6tena genom m\u00e5nga olika aktiviteter. I den f\u00f6rsta aktiviteten skapade medlemmarna miniprojekt f\u00f6r att l\u00e4ra eleverna om milj\u00f6fr\u00e5gor. Denna aktivitet gjorde det m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6r medlemmarna att l\u00e4ra k\u00e4nna varandra och skapa en id\u00e9 kring ett \u00e4mne som de hade ett gemensamt intresse f\u00f6r. Precis som i Model UN delades medlemmarna in i olika l\u00e4nder eller regioner och arbetade med att ta fram avtal om finansiering och CO2-utsl\u00e4pp. Dessa avtal lades sedan in i simulatorn och visade gruppen vilken inverkan deras lagstiftning skulle f\u00e5 om den genomf\u00f6rdes.
