Ist\u00e4llet producerar och sl\u00e4pper de ut en betydande m\u00e4ngd kv\u00e4ve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genom att byta ut gr\u00e4smattor mot inhemska v\u00e4xter minskar du m\u00e4ngden vatten du beh\u00f6ver f\u00f6r bevattning, eliminerar behovet av bek\u00e4mpningsmedel och herbicider och sparar den tid som kr\u00e4vs f\u00f6r underh\u00e5ll och klippning av gr\u00e4smattan, samtidigt som du st\u00f6der det lokala ekosystemet och binder koldioxid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Climate Toolkit har intervjuat David Burke, Connor Ryan och Rebecah Troutman fr\u00e5n <a href=\"https:\/\/holdenfg.org\/\"><strong>Holden Skogar &amp; Tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rdar<\/strong><\/a> f\u00f6r att l\u00e4ra dig mer om hur de ers\u00e4tter gr\u00e4smattor med inhemska v\u00e4xter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Varf\u00f6r tycker du att det \u00e4r viktigt att minska gr\u00e4sklippningen genom att ers\u00e4tta gr\u00e4smattor med inhemska v\u00e4xter?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gr\u00e4smattor fyller ett syfte, men de kr\u00e4ver mycket resurser (klippning, bevattning, bek\u00e4mpning av skadedjur och sjukdomar). Det finns tv\u00e5 s\u00e4tt att minska gr\u00e4smattornas p\u00e5verkan och f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra v\u00e5r milj\u00f6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det f\u00f6rsta tillv\u00e4gag\u00e5ngss\u00e4ttet \u00e4r att <strong>eliminera gr\u00e4smattan helt<\/strong>. Detta kan g\u00f6ras under vissa omst\u00e4ndigheter men \u00e4r ofta opraktiskt, s\u00e4rskilt f\u00f6r hus\u00e4gare. Lokala f\u00f6rordningar eller bostadsr\u00e4ttsf\u00f6reningar kr\u00e4ver ofta en viss niv\u00e5 av underh\u00e5ll av gr\u00e4smattan. Minskad klippning inneb\u00e4r mindre f\u00f6rbr\u00e4nning av bensin, mindre bullerf\u00f6roreningar i v\u00e5ra samh\u00e4llen och gr\u00e4smattor som kommer att vara mer motst\u00e5ndskraftiga mot torka och skadedjur. <strong>Frekvent gr\u00e4sklippning kan stressa gr\u00e4set och kan leda till behov av st\u00f6rre insatser som bevattning, g\u00f6dning eller anv\u00e4ndning av bek\u00e4mpningsmedel<\/strong>. Gr\u00e4smattor som klipps mindre kommer ocks\u00e5 att f\u00e5 \u00f6kad m\u00e5ngfald med andra v\u00e4xter, som violer eller kl\u00f6ver, som kommer in i mixen. Dessutom drevs mycket av v\u00e5rt intresse av v\u00e5r \u00f6nskan att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra milj\u00f6n, men denna \u00f6verg\u00e5ng var ocks\u00e5 n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndig till f\u00f6ljd av pandemin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att f\u00f6r\u00e4ndra vissa \u00e4ngar har processen varit att helt enkelt sluta klippa eller klippa halva \u00e4ngen vartannat \u00e5r f\u00f6r att l\u00e5ta v\u00e4xterna komma in naturligt. En stor del av v\u00e5r minskning kom fr\u00e5n 1) <strong>minskad klippning av gr\u00e4smattor eller helt slopad klippning<\/strong> eller 2) <strong>\u00e4ndra v\u00e5r sk\u00f6tsel av \u00e4ngar och \u00e5krar f\u00f6r att minska sl\u00e5tterfrekvensen<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ett enkelt exempel p\u00e5 vad den genomsnittliga personen kan g\u00f6ra \u00e4r att implementera <strong>minskad klippfrekvens<\/strong>. I s\u00e5 fall kommer du att se en \u00f6kning av v\u00e4xtm\u00e5ngfalden \u00f6ver tid n\u00e4r andra arter rekryteras till gr\u00e4smattan. V\u00e4xter planteras allts\u00e5 inte avsiktligt, utan <strong>naturlig rekrytering sker<\/strong>. En ytterligare metod \u00e4r att k\u00f6pa en gr\u00e4smatteblandning fr\u00e5n en naturv\u00e5rdsskola som inneh\u00e5ller inhemska v\u00e4xtfr\u00f6n. Det kan p\u00e5skynda processen med att rekrytera en gr\u00e4smatta med mer biologisk m\u00e5ngfald samtidigt som man undviker att f\u00f6ra in icke-inf\u00f6dda v\u00e4xter i blandningen (\u00e4ven om de f\u00f6rmodligen kommer att komma in med tiden).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e5 en sidoanteckning, p\u00e5 <a href=\"https:\/\/holdenfg.org\/our-impact\/research\/facilities\/\">Forskningsstationen Leach<\/a>Forskningen om att minska gr\u00e4smattorna sker i ett experimentellt sammanhang. Vi f\u00f6rs\u00f6kte ocks\u00e5 plantera tr\u00e4d som f\u00f6rutsp\u00e5s vara motst\u00e5ndskraftiga mot klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hur kommunicerade ni dessa insatser till allm\u00e4nheten?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\"Det experimentella arbetet med att minska gr\u00e4smattorna p\u00e5 Leach Station n\u00e4mns f\u00f6r grupper av allm\u00e4nheten under visningarna av stationen. Det arbete med kantfj\u00e4dring som p\u00e5g\u00e5r p\u00e5 Working Woods ing\u00e5r ocks\u00e5 i de offentliga turerna s\u00e5 att alla g\u00e4ster k\u00e4nner till den h\u00e4r tekniken. Vi har involverat volont\u00e4rer i projekten\/planteringarna, och de har blivit f\u00f6respr\u00e5kare f\u00f6r det vi g\u00f6r. Vilket syfte tj\u00e4nar den, vilka insatser kr\u00e4ver den, vilket budskap s\u00e4nder den etc.? Vilken typ av tid och resurser frig\u00f6r du f\u00f6r personalen om du eliminerar gr\u00e4smattan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Du m\u00e5ste verkligen se till kostnader och f\u00f6rdelar n\u00e4r du funderar p\u00e5 gr\u00e4smattesk\u00f6tsel. F\u00f6r organisationer som har ett milj\u00f6uppdrag eller \u00e4r intresserade av h\u00e5llbarhet kommer minskad eller ingen gr\u00e4sklippning att \u00f6ka den biologiska m\u00e5ngfalden och minska avrinningen av g\u00f6dningsmedel. Men det finns ocks\u00e5 ekonomiska f\u00f6rdelar - minskad klippning sparar pengar i form av bensin, utrustning och personaltid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Att utbilda allm\u00e4nheten \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 viktigt.
