Composto por dois jovens l\u00edderes e 18 jovens conselheiros, o grupo desenvolveu e implementou projetos relacionados ao meio ambiente, desenvolveu habilidades de lideran\u00e7a e planejamento de projetos, aprendeu sobre justi\u00e7a ambiental e clim\u00e1tica e se aprofundou em seus t\u00f3picos ambientais favoritos ao longo do programa. Abaixo, cada grupo partilha a for\u00e7a motriz do seu projeto e os materiais que desenvolveram para educar e inspirar os colegas estudantes e a comunidade da \u00e1rea de Pittsburgh.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Um dos principais recursos que os l\u00edderes utilizaram foi o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildcenter.org\/our-work\/youth-climate-program\/youth-climate-summit-toolkit\/access-the-climate-action-plan-facilitator-guide\/?1659454393\">Criar o SEU Plano de A\u00e7\u00e3o Clim\u00e1tica (PAC) Guia de Facilita\u00e7\u00e3o do Workshop<\/a>. Como grupo, trabalharam para criar um curr\u00edculo abrangente que abordasse adequadamente as defici\u00eancias na educa\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica e que pudesse ser ensinado nas escolas independentemente do estatuto econ\u00f3mico. Em resumo, o projeto \u00e9 composto por tr\u00eas planos de aula: polui\u00e7\u00e3o do ar, polui\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua e polui\u00e7\u00e3o do pl\u00e1stico. Cada plano inclui uma li\u00e7\u00e3o educativa e uma atividade interactiva para envolver e real\u00e7ar as ideias centrais do plano de aula para estes alunos. As causas da polui\u00e7\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica s\u00e3o apresentadas juntamente com uma explica\u00e7\u00e3o b\u00e1sica de como a queima de carv\u00e3o leva a poluentes no ar. Com esta informa\u00e7\u00e3o, os alunos participam numa atividade para identificar os poluentes atmosf\u00e9ricos a partir de uma sele\u00e7\u00e3o de imagens (por exemplo, inc\u00eandio florestal, bicicleta, carro, pain\u00e9is solares, moinhos de vento, lava). O plano de aula termina com perguntas sobre o que pode ser feito para combater a polui\u00e7\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica, tanto a n\u00edvel social como individual.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O <strong>Plano de aula sobre polui\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua<\/strong> come\u00e7a por pedir aos alunos que respondam a algumas perguntas triviais sobre os tr\u00eas rios de Pittsburgh e a raz\u00e3o pela qual a polui\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser um problema nestas massas de \u00e1gua. Em seguida, s\u00e3o colocadas quest\u00f5es como \"O que \u00e9 a polui\u00e7\u00e3o?\", \"O que \u00e9 a polui\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua?\" e \"O que pode estar a poluir os nossos rios?\" para que os alunos reflictam sobre estas quest\u00f5es. Depois de os alunos partilharem as suas perspectivas, os membros do comit\u00e9 podem desenvolver as respostas dos alunos para incorporar um estilo de ensino colaborativo. \u00c0 semelhan\u00e7a do plano de aula sobre polui\u00e7\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica, \u00e9 pedido aos alunos que identifiquem os poluentes da \u00e1gua a partir de uma s\u00e9rie de imagens. Finalmente, \u00e9 apresentado um diagrama de um sistema de esgotos combinado (CSS) t\u00edpico de Pittsburgh para descrever melhor a quest\u00e3o de como a polui\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua pode afetar negativamente as comunidades de Pittsburgh. O plano de aula termina com os alunos a constru\u00edrem os seus pr\u00f3prios filtros de \u00e1gua utilizando garrafas de \u00e1gua de pl\u00e1stico e a identificarem solu\u00e7\u00f5es para limitar a polui\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O <strong>Plano de aula sobre polui\u00e7\u00e3o pl\u00e1stica<\/strong> come\u00e7a por introduzir uma atividade semelhante ao popular jogo \"Among Us\" para envolver crian\u00e7as dos 9 aos 12 anos. O objetivo do jogo \u00e9 identificar quem est\u00e1 a poluir uma comunidade hipot\u00e9tica. Segue-se a apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o da forma como a polui\u00e7\u00e3o dos pl\u00e1sticos \u00e9 galopante na vida quotidiana das pessoas. De seguida, os membros do grupo explicam a produ\u00e7\u00e3o e a hist\u00f3ria da ind\u00fastria do pl\u00e1stico nas comunidades locais da AP. A quest\u00e3o da justi\u00e7a ambiental \u00e9 discutida para descrever como a polui\u00e7\u00e3o do pl\u00e1stico afecta desproporcionadamente as comunidades pobres e minorit\u00e1rias. Os alunos juntaram-se neste t\u00f3pico devido a um interesse partilhado na intersec\u00e7\u00e3o entre sistemas alimentares sustent\u00e1veis e justi\u00e7a ambiental. As suas diretrizes incluem comer alimentos da \u00e9poca e de origem local, ao mesmo tempo que abordam a disponibilidade em desertos alimentares. O grupo criou um livro de receitas para tornar os alimentos sustent\u00e1veis mais acess\u00edveis a qualquer pessoa que queira come\u00e7ar a comer mais refei\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e0 base de plantas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O grupo uniu-se em torno de um interesse nos sistemas alimentares porque a agricultura comercial tem enormes impactos ambientais negativos, incluindo o desperd\u00edcio de alimentos, a polui\u00e7\u00e3o, a desfloresta\u00e7\u00e3o, as emiss\u00f5es de gases com efeito de estufa e a degrada\u00e7\u00e3o dos solos. A escolha de uma dieta mais sustent\u00e1vel \u00e9 uma forma exequ\u00edvel de combater estes m\u00e9todos a n\u00edvel individual. Em seguida, explica a intersec\u00e7\u00e3o da justi\u00e7a ambiental com o consumo de alimentos para enfatizar como a acessibilidade \u00e9 uma parte importante da raz\u00e3o pela qual o livro de receitas foi criado. As receitas foram selecionadas com base nos ingredientes que est\u00e3o facilmente dispon\u00edveis nas comunidades rurais e de baixos rendimentos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O livro de receitas apresenta receitas de aperitivos, pequenos-almo\u00e7os, almo\u00e7os\/jantares e sobremesas que s\u00e3o f\u00e1ceis de confecionar, mesmo para os membros da comunidade que t\u00eam pouca experi\u00eancia na cozinha. Para incorporar este aspeto educativo no seu trabalho, o grupo criou uma apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o informativa sobre Moda Sustent\u00e1vel que discutia os efeitos do consumo excessivo e da produ\u00e7\u00e3o excessiva, oferecendo m\u00e9todos para combater estas pr\u00e1ticas atrav\u00e9s da reciclagem e reutiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de roupa velha. O grupo n\u00e3o s\u00f3 explicou o que \u00e9 o upcycling, como tamb\u00e9m abordou diferentes formas de upcycling utilizando t\u00e9cnicas de croch\u00e9 e costura, materiais de ganga, ferramentas de corte, tinta em spray e la\u00e7os. A apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o forneceu liga\u00e7\u00f5es para lojas de roupa em segunda m\u00e3o e locais que oferecem acesso a m\u00e1quinas de costura e oficinas de costura. Antes de organizarem o seu desfile de moda, organizaram um workshop de moda sustent\u00e1vel no Phipps para reunir potenciais designers que iriam participar. Disponibilizaram m\u00e1quinas de costura, material de costura e um espa\u00e7o para os designers conversarem e discutirem as suas ideias de roupa. No total, foram apresentadas 20 pe\u00e7as, feitas com materiais que v\u00e3o desde roupas velhas reutilizadas a cortinas recicladas e materiais invulgares, como latas, sacos de pl\u00e1stico e jornais. Os designers puderam concorrer a pr\u00e9mios nas categorias de Mais Criativo, Mais Fashion e Mais \u00danico. Os ju\u00edzes para determinar os vencedores eram representantes de empresas locais de moda sustent\u00e1vel, incluindo Parttime Poodle, Zach Merrill Prints e Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.
