Trovandosi nello \"Stato del sole\", Rominiecki ha pensato che fosse logico spingersi oltre i limiti di ci\u00f2 che era possibile fare con l'energia solare e aprire la strada a una progettazione positiva per il clima all'interno delle istituzioni culturali.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poich\u00e9 i Selby Gardens sono situati sulla costa del golfo della Florida, era anche importante considerare come la struttura potesse essere resiliente agli uragani e ad altri disastri climatici naturali. Nel 2017, l'uragano Irma ha colpito la costa della Florida e \"ha messo un punto esclamativo\" sugli sforzi di sostenibilit\u00e0 dell'istituzione, ha raccontato Rominiecki. La collezione vivente era a rischio, ospitata in un'infrastruttura obsoleta al piano terra in una zona soggetta a forti inondazioni. In totale, l'organizzazione \u00e8 riuscita a raccogliere $57 milioni di euro di fondi privati per sostenere il progetto, una strategia che \u00e8 servita anche a dimostrare l'ampio sostegno della comunit\u00e0 a questo lavoro.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ad ogni livello, i membri della comunit\u00e0 sono intervenuti per offrire ci\u00f2 che potevano. Un metodo di raccolta fondi unico nel suo genere ha generato un'ondata di sostegno da parte di donatori di tutte le et\u00e0: \"Dai un nome a un pannello solare\" in onore di amici o persone care. Alcuni pannelli sono stati nominati in onore di scuole locali con scarse risorse; altri sono stati intitolati a figli e nipoti della comunit\u00e0, il che \u00e8 servito anche a innescare conversazioni intergenerazionali sulla sostenibilit\u00e0 ambientale e sul ruolo che ciascuno pu\u00f2 svolgere.   La filantropia privata ha anche permesso a Selby Gardens di essere pi\u00f9 agile, il che \u00e8 stato fondamentale per adattarsi alle mutevoli esigenze del progetto e dell'ambiente, e ha consentito di ottenere il rating ESG Sustainability Bond e quindi $31 milioni di finanziamenti obbligazionari. Durante la vendita delle obbligazioni, la domanda \u00e8 stata travolgente, con un numero di richieste pi\u00f9 che triplicato.
