Roosevelt believed we have a responsibility to care for the land so it remains healthy for future generations. While climate change wasn’t a term in his time, the principle behind it, stewardship and long-term responsibility, is exactly what he stood for. At the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, this philosophy guides our pillars of Leadership, Conservation, and Citizenship. Leadership means demonstrating what is possible through how we design, build, and operate this place. Conservation means managing the land and resources responsibly. Citizenship means sharing what we learn so others can benefit. By being part of the climate toolkit, we can turn our experience into practical lessons that help other institutions pursue climate responsible design and operations.
