Como grupo, trabajaron para crear un plan de estudios completo que abordara adecuadamente las deficiencias de la educaci\u00f3n sobre el clima y que pudiera impartirse en las escuelas independientemente de la situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica. En resumen, el proyecto se compone de tres planes de lecciones: contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica, contaminaci\u00f3n del agua y contaminaci\u00f3n por pl\u00e1sticos. Cada plan incluye una lecci\u00f3n educativa y una actividad interactiva para captar y enfatizar las ideas centrales del plan de lecci\u00f3n para estos estudiantes. Se presentan las causas de la contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica y se da una explicaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica de c\u00f3mo la combusti\u00f3n del carb\u00f3n genera contaminantes en el aire. Con esta informaci\u00f3n, los alumnos participan en una actividad para identificar los contaminantes del aire a partir de una selecci\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes (por ejemplo, incendio forestal, bicicleta, coche, paneles solares, molinos de viento, lava). La lecci\u00f3n concluye con preguntas sobre qu\u00e9 se puede hacer para combatir la contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica tanto a nivel social como individual.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En <strong>Plan de lecci\u00f3n sobre la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua<\/strong> comienza pidiendo a los alumnos que respondan a algunas preguntas triviales sobre los tres r\u00edos de Pittsburgh y por qu\u00e9 la contaminaci\u00f3n puede ser un problema en estas masas de agua. A continuaci\u00f3n, se plantean preguntas como \"\u00bfQu\u00e9 es la contaminaci\u00f3n?\", \"\u00bfQu\u00e9 es la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua?\" y \"\u00bfQu\u00e9 puede estar contaminando nuestros r\u00edos?\" para que los alumnos reflexionen sobre estas cuestiones. Una vez que los alumnos comparten sus puntos de vista, los miembros del comit\u00e9 pueden ampliar las respuestas de los alumnos para incorporar un estilo de ense\u00f1anza colaborativo. Al igual que en el caso de la contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica, se pide a los alumnos que identifiquen los contaminantes del agua en una serie de im\u00e1genes. Por \u00faltimo, se muestra un diagrama de un sistema de alcantarillado combinado t\u00edpico de Pittsburgh (CSS) para describir con m\u00e1s detalle el problema de c\u00f3mo la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua puede afectar negativamente a las comunidades de Pittsburgh. La lecci\u00f3n termina con los alumnos construyendo sus propios filtros de agua con botellas de pl\u00e1stico e identificando soluciones para limitar la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En <strong>Plan de lecci\u00f3n sobre la contaminaci\u00f3n por pl\u00e1sticos<\/strong> comienza introduciendo una actividad similar al popular juego \"Entre nosotros\" para implicar a ni\u00f1os de 9 a 12 a\u00f1os. El objetivo del juego es identificar qui\u00e9n contamina una comunidad hipot\u00e9tica. A continuaci\u00f3n se explica que la contaminaci\u00f3n por pl\u00e1sticos est\u00e1 muy extendida en la vida cotidiana de las personas. A continuaci\u00f3n, los miembros del grupo explican la producci\u00f3n y la historia de la industria del pl\u00e1stico en las comunidades locales de AP. Se aborda la cuesti\u00f3n de la justicia medioambiental para describir c\u00f3mo la contaminaci\u00f3n por pl\u00e1sticos afecta de manera desproporcionada a las comunidades pobres y minoritarias. Los estudiantes se unieron en torno a este tema por su inter\u00e9s com\u00fan en la intersecci\u00f3n entre los sistemas alimentarios sostenibles y la justicia medioambiental. Sus directrices incluyen el consumo de alimentos de temporada y de origen local, as\u00ed como la disponibilidad en los desiertos alimentarios. El grupo ha creado un libro de recetas para que los alimentos sostenibles sean m\u00e1s accesibles a todo aquel que quiera empezar a comer m\u00e1s a base de plantas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El grupo se uni\u00f3 en torno al inter\u00e9s por los sistemas alimentarios porque la agricultura comercial tiene enormes repercusiones negativas en el medio ambiente, como el desperdicio de alimentos, la contaminaci\u00f3n, la deforestaci\u00f3n, las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y la degradaci\u00f3n del suelo. En total se presentaron 20 piezas, confeccionadas con materiales tan diversos como ropa vieja reutilizada, cortinas recicladas o materiales inusuales como latas, bolsas de pl\u00e1stico y peri\u00f3dicos. Los dise\u00f1adores pudieron optar a premios en las categor\u00edas de M\u00e1s Creativo, M\u00e1s a la Moda y M\u00e1s \u00danico. Los jueces encargados de determinar los ganadores fueron representantes de empresas locales de moda sostenible, como Parttime Poodle, Zach Merrill Prints y Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.
